Official Minutes of CEC 27 Special Meeting
(August 22, 2016)
The Special meeting for CEC 27 was held on August 22, 2016 at District 27 – 82-01 Rockaway Blvd., Ozone Park, NY 11234. The meeting began at 6:30pm.
Dr. Paez called the meeting to order and asked for a roll call.
Roll call – Present- Sherry Algredo, Josette Grippo, Jeaneska Rodriguez, Dr. Harold Paez, Lisa Johnson Cooper and Bibi Matadin.
Dr. Paez asked if there were any dignitaries in the audience. Mr. Kevin Pschirhart representing Councilman Eric Ulrich was in attendance.
There was a motion made by Sherry Algredo and seconded by Lisa Johnson Cooper to accept the submitted absence notes from Paola Strand and Ronnie Murchinson. The vote was unanimously accepted.
The unofficial minutes of July 2016 minutes were unfinished, so the official minutes will include information from the Zoning vote, Officer Competello’s appearance, the Committee Assignments, the Plaque presentation and Zoning information from Sherry Algredo.
There was a motion made by Dr. Paez and seconded by Josette Grippo to add and summarize information to include to the July minutes to make it finalized for the September 19th meeting.
Albery Corona presented PS 335 rezoning information to the council. It included Plan A and Plan B to the zoning of PS 335. Scenario data regarding plan A and Plan B are attached. See attached.
There was a roll call for zoning choice. There was a motion made by Dr. Paez and seconded by Wendy Pratt Hall to accept Zoning Choice – Plan B. The vote was unanimously accepted with a vote of 8.
After a discussion and suggestion from Sherry Algredo, the council agreed to move the September meeting from the District office to PS 108. The meeting was changed to accommodate the number of people expected to attend regarding the ongoing rezoning information.
Ms. Grippo read budget resolution #02-2016/17 regarding allocating funds from this year’s CEC budget towards unpaid member reimbursements from the 2015-16 fiscal year.
Resolution #2-2016/17
Whereas: Community Education Councils are allocated a budget for the year to run their office, to reimburse money that members have laid out, to generate parental involvement in the district and to conduct business, and
Whereas: Council members have approved that members be compensated for unpaid expenses from the prior fiscal year using funds from the new fiscal year budget of 2016-17, and
Whereas: the Senior Grants Officer requires a vote reflected in the minutes for funds to be so utilized and appropriated;
Resolved: the Council votes to allocate the sum of $2, 500 from this year’s budget (2016-17) to cover member reimbursements from the 2015-16 fiscal year. The Community Education Council of District 27 agrees to have these funds deducted from the new CEC Member Reimbursement line of the 2016-17 CEC Budget voted into effect on July 20, 2016
Dr. Paez made a motion which was seconded by Josette Grippo to accept the budget resolution to allocate funds from the previous fiscal year. The vote was unanimously accepted.
There was an announcement to close the meeting and proceed to the Executive Session. The meeting adjourned at 7:45pm.
